Football

Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, which is achieved primarily by using any part of the body except for the hands and arms (goalkeepers are an exception, as they can use their hands within a designated area).

The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end and is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game. Matches are typically divided into two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with stoppage time added at the referee’s discretion.

Football is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with a significant following and numerous professional leagues and tournaments, including domestic leagues and international competitions like the FIFA World Cup. The sport emphasizes skills such as dribbling, passing, and tactical teamwork, and it fosters a strong sense of community and national pride among players and fans alike.
