Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with goalposts at either end. The objective of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing team’s goal. The game is primarily played with the feet, although players can use any part of their body except their arms and hands to control the ball.

There are various forms of football, with soccer (association football) being the most widely played globally. In soccer, players use their feet to dribble, pass, and shoot the ball, while goalkeepers are the only players permitted to use their hands, but only within a defined area known as the penalty area.

Other popular forms of football include American football, where players can pass the ball and run with it, and rugby football, which emphasizes carrying the ball and tackles. Each variant has its own set of rules and gameplay styles, but fundamentally, football is characterized by its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and scoring goals. Football is one of the most popular sports worldwide, enjoying massive followings, professional leagues, and major international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup.
